Many buyers ask a friend or relative abroad to bring back a MacBook. With the MacBook Neo price in Bangladesh starting at ৳88,499, is it actually cheaper to buy overseas? We compared prices in popular countries with the local price at ByteBliss, then added the costs that usually get left out.
Short Answer
In a few countries, such as Japan, Australia and Taiwan, the MacBook Neo 256GB can work out about ৳4,000–৳6,000 cheaper, but only after a tourist tax refund. In the USA it costs more than in Bangladesh. Once you add the risks and extra costs below, the saving is small or disappears, especially for the 256GB model.
MacBook Neo Price Abroad vs Bangladesh
These are approximate prices converted to taka, based on recent figures from price comparison sites. Exchange rates change daily.
| Where | 256GB (approx.) | 512GB (approx.) | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bangladesh (ByteBliss) | ৳88,499 | ৳1,04,999 | Sealed, warranty, EMI, local store |
| Japan | ৳82,000–৳83,000 | ৳95,000–৳96,000 | After tourist tax refund; Japanese keyboard layout |
| Australia | ৳81,000–৳82,500 | ৳97,000–৳98,000 | After tourist tax refund |

Without a tax refund, prices abroad are higher than the figures above, and the gap with Bangladesh becomes very small.
Costs Most Buyers Forget
- Tax refund conditions. You only get the refund at the airport if you meet the country's rules for tourists, keep the receipts and leave on time.
- Customs at home. Bringing a new laptop into Bangladesh may be subject to duty depending on baggage rules and how many devices you carry. Check the current rules before you travel.
- Exchange rate and card fees. Paying with a Bangladeshi card abroad adds conversion and bank charges.
- The favor itself. If someone else carries it, you depend on their timing, and there's no receipt in your name.
Keyboard Layout and Charger Differences
A MacBook bought in Japan usually comes with a Japanese keyboard layout, which has different key positions and labels. Models from other regions may come with a different plug on the power adapter. Neither problem stops the laptop working, but both affect daily use.
Warranty and Repairs After You're Home
Warranty support rules differ by country and by seller. If something goes wrong with a unit bought abroad, you may have to arrange repairs yourself or deal with the original seller from a distance. Buying from ByteBliss gives you a 1-year international warranty, a receipt in your name and a store in Dhaka to return to for help.
The Real Saving, Worked Out
| MacBook Neo 256GB | Abroad (best case) | ByteBliss |

In the best case you might save a few thousand taka, but you give up EMI, easy support and certainty about what you're getting.
